Diversity requires more flexibility for filling machines

Some manufacturers of yoghurt and dairy desserts play with universally appreciated flavors such as strawberry, vanilla and peach, but also with emerging ones (mango, blueberry, pistachio and coconut) to exploit one of the main growth opportunities. Their machine must then offer the great flexibility required by the change of recipes.

The launched products can combine new flavors and pots of different sizes, to meet the different consumption patterns as is the case for natures yogurts. And therefore an additional challenge to be met by the filler. Such diversity certainly gives rise to a problem of flexibility for any manufacturer wishing to invest in a new packaging line or replace an existing line with a versatile and sustainable solution.

To achieve this flexibility with the least possible impact on production capacity and manufacturing costs, three essential criteria must be studied:

the change of tools must be as simple as possible for a fast realization, without tools, by the operator himself,
the recipe change must be thought of and optimized by the machine manufacturer to minimize waste of time and product,
cleaning operations must be carried out as quickly as possible, with as little water as possible and maximum efficiency.

Another advantage of the Modulo spout is that it can be easily integrated into packaging lines of a large number of pre-formed or Form-Fill-Seal jars. Concerning the FFS lines, an implementation study can be considered if necessary.
