With the new SFB port extender, Schmersal presents a powerful extension for the Safety Field Box (SFB), which significantly simplifies the connection of additional switching devices in the field.

Up to four printed circuit board modules can be connected per SFB – each of which can be used to connect further digital I/O components. This results in optimum flexibility for customised automation applications.

A particular advantage of the SFB port extension is the ability to connect a larger number of non-safety-related switching devices to the SFB. These can be easily connected and evaluated via the three supported fieldbus protocols – ideal for heterogeneous system environments. Power is supplied directly via the SFB connection, reducing installation costs and simplifying system integration.

Key features at a glance: Plug-in module for customer-specific control boxes, e.g. with illuminated pushbuttons, emergency stop or other digital I/O devices; up to 4 port extensions can be connected per SFB; 8 digital inputs (24 VDC) for electromechanical or electronic switches; 8 digital outputs (24 VDC / 300 mA) for LED indicator lights, lamps and other loads (max. total current 800 mA), 2-channel safety input for connecting safety switches with contacts

With the SFB port extension, Schmersal offers a future-proof solution for expanding decentralised control systems in a compact, powerful and versatile manner.
